Rabbi Eugene A. Wernick was appointed rabbi of Or Olam as of August 1, 2015. A magna cum laude graduate of City College and member of Phi Beta Kappa, he received his master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as his Rabbinic S’michah, from The Jewish Theological Seminary. He presided at various synagogues in Canada and the United States, the most recent of which was Congregation Beth Ohr, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. He has extensive experience in teaching, pastoral care, and community outreach, including inter-faith programs, chaplaincy in police departments, prisons, and mental institutions. His book, Gateway to the Kabbalah, was published earlier this year.
Rabbi Wernick is looking forward to teaching Torah, Mishnah, and Talmud and other topics to Or Olam congregants and the wider community during study sessions following Thursday morning worship and in the evening. Check our calendar for more information. The rabbi has created a site where he is posting study materials for easy access.
