Photos of Winter Concert

A wonderful evening of Sephardic-inspired music.

A large and enthusiastic audience filled the Main Sanctuary last Sunday for Cantor Shiree Kidron’s winter concert: My Heart Is In the East. Cantor Kidron, accompanied by virtuoso instrumentalists Nadav Lev on guitar, Adam Fisher on cello, and Rex Benincasa on percussion, thrilled a rapt audience with her renditions of Sephardic-inspired songs ranging from Piyyutim of the Middle Ages to contemporary Israeli melodies. She even brought a classical flavor to the concert, with a song cycle by …. She brought down the house by ending the concert with a version of Adon Olam sung to a tune from Bizet’s Carmen. After the concert the audience mingled for over an hour in the Social Hall, enjoying an ample dairy spread provided by concert sponsor Natural and Kosher. Many thanks to concert underwriters Jacob Sutton and Barbara Gerber-Krasner. See a full album of photos from the concert here
